Robert Weintraub, This Is For You.
I don't how many of you are familiar with Robert Weintraub's writings on Deadspin, but if you are, I pity you. He may be a great writer but whatever he is trying to do on Deadspin just isn't funny and above all Deadspin is about bringing the funny.
You are so right about this. I used to read at least the first paragraph of his stuff at Deadspin but now I can't even make it that far. And his Purple Prose posts are a complete ripoff of Rob Neyer's old Scribbly Tate articles at his personal website (http://www.robneyer.com/FAQ.html#07). Those were never funny either but at least Neyer had the sense to stop writing them and seems to have scrubbed them from his website. Maybe Weintraub's horrible posts at Deadspin are the real reason Buzz Bissinger got so bent out of shape last night?
